Raspberry Chia Jam
Raspberry chia jam is a big hit in our house! It’s one of my husband’s favourite things to eat on his morning toast. The great thing about this recipe is that it’s very easy to make and it’s so fresh and healthy! Traditional jams usually contain a LARGE amount of added sugar which is why I avoid them as often as possible. I use this chia jam on top of my greek yogurt, or I top off my morning bowl of oatmeal with a large scoop of this puree with added fresh berries and nuts.
This homemade jam is gluten free, refined sugar free and absolutely delicious! My favourite thing about this recipe is that it’s subtly sweet with the perfect texture. You’ll be impressed it only takes 5 minutes to master and then you will never go back to buying store bought jam again!
Ingredients:
1.5 cups of fresh or frozen raspberries
1 tbsp of honey or maple syrup (if berries are sour you might need to add more)
½ tsp vanilla
1.5 tbsp of chia seeds
I often double this so I can have two small jars ready made.
Instructions:
Add your berries and honey or maple syrup to a pot on the stove. Cook over medium heat until the berries are soft. Mash up the berries with a wooden spoon as it is cooking. After a couple of minutes this step will be done.
Take berries off the heat and add the vanilla. Let it cool a bit then mix in your chia seeds and pour into your little jam jars. Once completely cooled store in the fridge for up to a week.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
