Maple Roasted Figs with Greek Yogurt
Figs are one of those mystery fruits that you see in the grocery store and would love to buy but just don’t know what to do with them. When they are ripe, they are so juicy and sweet, BUT there is nothing worse than an unripe fig. No need to worry. When unripe, all they need is to take a little run through the oven to coax out their natural goodness.
Figs are high in water and natural sugar, which results in great caramelization when roasted. Roasted figs can be incorporated in sweet and savoury dishes. They can be served on a crostini with goat cheese and prosciutto or as a dessert on top of your favourite ice cream. I like to put them on my morning oatmeal or to add sweetness to my greek yogurt. They not only look beautiful but add a subtle sweetness to your dishes. I hope you give them a try!
DIRECTIONS:
Slice figs in half facing up on a baking sheet.
Drizzle pure organic maple syrup on top and a sprinkle of sea salt, a little sprinkle of cinnamon is optional.
Roast for about 20 minutes at 350˚C.
Place on top of your favourite greek yogurt and top with toasted nuts.
