Get on this Dalgona Coffee Trend!
Most of us can agree there’s nothing better than a great cup of coffee! During quarantine I have been experimenting with a few new types of coffees. It has been so much fun to transform my daily dose of caffeine into a beautiful creation.
Recently, I discovered the new social media trend of Dalgona coffee. This whipped sensation is so simple. It not only tastes amazing but it looks like a professional barista made it.
The drink itself has origins from India, Pakistan and Maca where it is known as “beaten coffee”. However, there has been a surge of popularity in this coffee since January when a Korean actor tried it and gave it a nickname Dalgona, because it resembles a korean sponge candy.
Dalgona coffee is very simple to make and it's SO delicious you can eat it by the spoonful. This will certainly impress even the most sophisticated coffee connoisseur.
Ingredients:
2 Tbsp of instant coffee
2 Tbsp of granulated sugar
3 Tbsp of boiling water.
4-6 ounces of your favorite milk (oat, almond, cashew, 2%)
Ice cubes
** If you’re making it for two, you will need to double the recipe
Instructions:
Combine instant coffee, sugar and boiling water in a bowl. Using an electric mixer beat until the liquid is smooth and glossy and has doubled in size. This step will take a few minutes. In a separate cup pour your milk of choice over ice. Finally pour the mixture over your milk and voila!
Don’t be afraid to get creative and add other variations like a little cocoa powder, ½ tsp of vanilla, or even substitute the sugar for maple syrup. If you want to make it a dessert, put a dollop or two on top of vanilla ice cream and top it off with a few chocolate shavings.
I hope you give it a try!
